Tknika; the Basque Country Applied Research Center for Vocational Training, needs to transform an area of its building into the offices of the Sustainability department. The department includes an office space, videoconference booth, showroom and a multipurpose room that allows for teaching, conferences and workshops to be held.
The design of the spaces aims to make this department visible by facilitating transparency with the circulation areas. The main material used is wood as a key element of the design. Both the interior carpentry, the bespoke furniture (documentation storage cabinets, kitchenette, radiator covers, etc.) are made of this sustainable material and one of the key points of the Sustainability department's work.
The Spatial Identity is based on the 3P philosophy (People | Profit | Planet) as this reflects the values that underpin the work carried out in the department. Through several co-design workshops, a series of graphic patterns based on the 3Ps were defined. These patterns materialised in the space with a series of circular wooden stretcher frames fixed to the ceilings and one of the walls containing the patterns silk-screened on fabric. The idea is that when accessing the space, these elements communicate the focus of work carried out in the department.
